"They had really good plans" - Gen.G's Munchkin after their defeat against Team Heretics in Valorant Champions 2024 (Exclusive)

Valorant Champions 2024 is the last official event of the 2024 season. As of now, 16 teams are currently giving their best in the Group Stage to qualify for the Playoffs. So far, only two have made it to the next stage. Day 5 started with a match between Pacific's number one seed, Gen.G, and EMEA's number three seed, Team Heretics. The Bo3 (Best-of-three) series ended up being one of the closest at the event as both teams truly gave it their all. Eventually, it was Team Heretics that was able to close with a 2-1 score.

During the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the chance to talk to Gen.G's IGL (In-game Leader), Munchkin. There, the Valorant pro praised Heretics by saying:

"They had really good plans."

Gen.G's Munchkin talks about Team Heretics' comeback on Lotus in Valorant Champions 2024

Gen.G have looked phenomenal throughout this year. Their top-tier performance has made them a favorite coming into Valorant Champions 2024. This opinion solidified even further when they dominated the VCT Masters Madrid winners, Sentinels, in their opening series.

In their match against Team Heretics, Gen.G were able to secure the first map, Abyss, with an interesting composition that they had previously used on Breeze. The second map, Lotus, also saw them hold a comfortable lead as they were able to disrupt and counter everything Heretics were trying to do.

However, the second half of Lotus was where Team Heretics started gradually putting up rounds. They made an incredible comeback to win the map and then the series. Sportskeeda Esports' approached Gen.G's Munchkin to ask him about what he thought allowed Heretics to pull off the comeback on Lotus. Here's what he had to say:

"They had really good plans going into the second half, in terms of their macro especially. I think we had a lot of good opportunities to close out Lotus but we just missed them. Thus, Heretics won."

With this defeat, Gen.G will head to the Group Stage's Lower Brackets in this event. Their next match will be against the winner of Sentinels vs FunPlus Phoenix, where they will play for their survival.
