"This region can become super strong": Revenant Esports' coach, Fields, on South Asian Valorant and his experience with the team (Exclusive)
Valorant Challengers League 2024 is a tier two event where the non-franchised teams compete to make their way into the tier one leagues. They first face off against the teams from their respective regions and then make it to the international event, "Ascension". Here is where they get a chance to directly compete for the singular spot in the franchised league.
Revenant Esports is a team that competed in South Asia's Valorant Challengers League 2024. After defeating True Rippers by 3-0 in the Grand Finals, they were crowned as the champions from South Asia. This also meant that they would be the sole representatives of South Asia going into the VCT Ascension Pacific 2024.
Sportskeeda Esports got the opportunity to talk to Revenant Esports' coach, Fields during which he said:
"This region can become super strong."
Revenant Esports' coach Fields talks about his experience coaching the new team and South Asia's Valorant scene
Revenant Esports was among the strongest teams in South Asia's Valorant Challengers League 2024. However, they fell a little short during Split 1 to earn themselves first place. As the stakes were very high in Split 2, the roster decided to get themselves a coach which saw the addition of Fields to the team.
In Split 2, Revenant Esports was able to blaze through their competition as they got three wins and zero losses in the Group Stage while also getting the same record during the Playoffs. They only lost a total of three maps on their road to the Ascension spot.
Sportskeeda Esports asked Fields how his experience has been coaching the Revenant Esports roster and what his impressions are of South Asian Valorant. Here's what he had to say:
"My experience coaching this team so far has been amazing. Before joining here I was close to retiring, but I thought I’d give it another shot with this roster which I truly believed could win. Everyone in the team embraced my ideas with open arms and treated me with a great deal of respect which allowed me to do my best work and improve the team in a way I know works. We have only had a short amount of time together but the progress has been immense, mainly down to the environment and atmosphere we are creating allowing everyone to flourish."
He further added:
"My impressions of South Asian Valorant is that they take a lot of inspiration from the EU playstyle and it feels like some teams here are trying to play “perfect” valorant but I believe there should be a bit more room for creativity and innovative ideas - with the addition of this and adding some more flair into their game, I believe this region can become super strong, we just need someone within South Asia to show it is possible and everyone will start believing even more that this region is actually pretty strong and I hope we can prove that in Ascension!"
Revenant Esports will now be making their way to Tokyo to compete in VCT Ascension Pacific 2024. They will be facing off against the best teams from the Challengers League of other Pacific regions for the singular slot of VCT Pacific League 2025.
