Valorant Patch 9.11 changes: Neon nerfs and ping tweaks

Valorant Patch 9.11 is set to bring major nerfs to Neon and today's (December 6, 2024) dev video provided a glimpse at what those are. Riot acknowledged that Neon's slides currently feel a "bit too powerful right now" and changes are required to give opponents better counter-play opportunities against the ultimate.

Patch 9.11 will also bring Vyse quality-of-life improvements and major changes to the pinging system in Valorant. The latter has the potential to significantly impact gameplay as players will no longer be able to smoke themselves and spam-protect a planted spike. Read on to find out more.

Neon nerfs

  • Neon's Slide is being reduced from 2 to 1.
  • While sliding, Neon's weapon accuracy changed from fully accurate to the same as when you are crouching and moving.
  • Neon's Ultimate timing is tighter to make users plan better when/how to use it and give opponents better counter-play opportunities.
  • Neon's Ultimate cost increased to 8 points.

Vyse quality-of-life changes

  • Quality-of-life changes
  • Improvements to Razorvine as devs feel "it hasn't quite been hitting the mark."

Pinging system changes

  • Pings on the map will not be visible in the in-game world.
  • Smokes will block pings from passing through them similar to walls.
  • New ping sounds differ between pinging on the map and directly in the in-game world.
  • The old ping system will be available in Custom Games through a new cheat in-game.

We will have a better idea regarding all of these changes once the Patch Notes for Valorant update 9.11 arrives. Based on the ongoing schedule, we expect the patch to arrive on December 10, 2024. Given that it is bringing major nerfs to Neon, we also foresee a shakeup to the Valorant Agent tier list.
