G2 Esports' valyn talks about the takeaways from Valorant Champions 2024 and his first year in franchising
G2 Esports entered the Americas League in the 2024 season as the Ascension winners from the previous year. While the team ended up having a slow start to the season, they were able to pick themselves back up after a small roster change. After that, G2 Esports became one of the most consistent teams in VCT 2024.
In Valorant Champions 2024, G2 Esports had a phenomenal start as they breezed past the Group Stage by defeating strong teams like Paper Rex and EDward Gaming. This allowed them to secure the Playoffs spot and made them one of the favorites at the event. However, their Playoffs run was stopped swiftly as they lost to their regional rivals, Leviatán, and later to Fnatic.
During the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports approached G2 Esports valyn to ask him about his biggest takeaways from Champions and his first year in franchising. Here's what he said:
"I don't know I haven't processed all that yet honestly. First year in franchising was definitely a successful one I would say. Obviously I want the ending to be better. I'm devastated right now. You know, a team from Ascension going top three in Shanghai, top eight in Champs. We had a good year so I'm proud. I guess I haven't learned about like the tournament yet. I have to watch the game's back and like just process everything because it's all fresh right now.."
After this defeat, G2 Esports has been eliminated from Champions. They will end up securing the 7th-8th place at this event.
