"We weren't really playing as a team"- Team Falcons Vega's Mary after losing to ZETA DIVISION at VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 (Exclusive)

VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 has begun with its elimination matches. Day 4 had two series lined up, including a matchup between EMEA's Team Falcons Vega and Pacific's ZETA DIVISION. The Bo3 (best-of-three) was expected to be fairly competitive, as both teams had displayed incredible performances in the past. However, it ended up being a short series as ZETA DIVISION won both maps and looked rather comfortable while doing so.

After the match, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the opportunity to talk to Team Falcons Vega's Mary, during which she said:

"We weren't really playing as a team."

Team Falcons Vega qualified for this event as the number three seed from the EMEA region. After a phenomenal performance in their first match, many expected the team to make a deeper run in the upper brackets. However, that wasn't the case, as they fell to NA's Shopify Rebellion, which pushed them to the lower brackets.

In their third match against ZETA DIVISION, Team Falcons Vega had a great start. The team was able to put up a good streak of rounds on the first map, Ascent, and showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, this did not last, as ZETA DIVISION was able to string many rounds together and eventually win the map in the second half. They carried this momentum over to the next map, Haven, and closed the series with a 2-0 win.

Sportskeeda Esports approached Team Falcons Vega's Mary to ask her about what exactly went wrong within the team during the first map, Ascent, that allowed ZETA DIVISION to make a comeback. She answered:

"I think for them it was mostly that they were playing together and hitting together. Like when they were playing on defense, we were always going into their stacked up sites and we were just going one by one and we weren't really playing as a team. I think that's what really happened. Honestly, props to them. They are a good team. Yeah I think that was the problem and that's pretty much it."

As a result of this loss, Team Falcons Vega was eliminated from the VCT Game Changers Championship 2024. They will end their tournament run with a 7th-8th place finish.
