"Thanks for the best anti-cheat!": FPS community applauds Valorant's Vanguard for tackling cheaters
Valorant managed to set a new standard for the anti-cheat system with Vanguard. The anti-cheat software seems to be invasive since it runs on the Kernel level and continues to raise a few concerns throughout the FPS community. However, it has proven to be an effective counter to the widespread cheater issue.
Reddit user u/kepler2 expressed their joy about Riot Games’ anti-cheat software and said:
“I might sound like a geek, but thanks Valorant for the best anti-cheat! I've been playing lately and I think the anti-cheat is the best in the industry. CS2 is plagued by cheaters, be it Premier or Competitive. XDEFIANT also. I didn't encounter cheaters in Valorant (only smurfs). Thanks for the best anti-cheat!”
The post quickly gained a lot of traction as various users voiced their own opinions. u/PhilLoadholt cited that there is a cheater problem in Call of Duty, especially in the higher ranks. Another user u/49jesse cited that simply because one has not encountered any malicious players does not mean that there are none in the game.

Reddit user u/ASar01 stated that there are cheaters in Valorant and they had encountered a few in the last year. However, as per u/redditlied, coming across only a handful of third-party software users in a competitive game is an achievement in itself for Riot Games. This proves that the Kernel-level anti-cheat has the potential to minimize swarms of cheaters.
u/kepler2 sarcastically poked Counter-Strike servers by saying that the game receives two cheaters per game compared to the two per year stated earlier.

u/naiveestheim commented in agreement with the original post and said that they were skeptical about the intrusiveness of the software but it is an effective tool to fight against hackers. While any such cheat tool users are obvious in lower ranks, it becomes difficult to detect in higher lobbies since most players are skilled.
The thread also contains a lot of comments that highlight that Valorant might still have a cheating issue. u/Illustrious-Entrant clarified that there is a chance of various closet cheaters who can effectively hide using hacks during their gameplay.

u/DormsTarkovJanitor provides their opinion that Riot’s FPS title does have cheaters and emphasizes the need for a replay system. Such a feature would allow players to check different player perspectives and discern if there was a cheater in their previous match.
Is there a cheater problem in Valorant?
The presence of cheaters in an online multiplayer game has become a common problem. Valorant features a strict and intrusive anti-cheat system that seems to have held out numerous third-party tools to protect the integrity of the game. However, a percentage of the community believes that there are many cheaters in the game that go undetected and successfully dodge bans.
There is no exact statistic to measure the number of cheaters in this case. But, Riot’s FPS title seems to have a better standing compared to its competitors, as most players encounter only a few or no cheaters. This can create a positive and healthy gameplay experience for the entire community.
