Ruse is Clove's signature ability. It's a smoke that lasts for 13.5 seconds per use. The smoke regenerates over time and the Controller has two charges. It is important to note that Clove has a limited range within which Ruse can be utilized. Abyss is a large map and it is difficult to smoke both A and B sites from any given position.

This is why it is crucial for Clove to either pick a site while a Sentinel anchors another or remain posted in mid and move along CT Spawn to provide smokes wherever needed. The latter can be inconvenient and problematic since opponent teams can and will fake attacks.

So stay posted on one site during defense while fully communicating with the team's anchor. Use Ruse to smoke entryways pre-emptively or when you hear the opponent's approach. You can also utilize Ruse aggressively to push out with a flash. Alternate between defensive and offensive approaches to surprise the opponents.

Clove can regenerate health using their Pick-Me-Up ability, which allows them to push along with a Duelist or initiator and take aggressive fights. Use this to the maximum during defensive halves. During the attacking half smoke off chokepoints and angles that give enemies an advantage.

Clove's Meddle rapidly decays opponents' health which makes it easier to eliminate them. One of the best ways to use Meddle is to combine it with Sova's Shock Bolts or Raze's Paint Shells. In a nutshell, using it to decay opponents before defeating them with another piece of utility.

You can aim and launch Meddle towards A Back Site or B Under to clear these specific areas. Furthermore, you may also jump strafe and release Meddle on an opponent defusing the Spike to take them out faster.

Using Clove's Pick-Me-Up (C)

Clove's Pick-Me-Up allows them to take risks with a safety net to fall back on. The ability heals the Agent up to 100 HP and also grants a temporary speed boost. Use this ability offensively and aggressively during either offensive or defensive halves.

Cooperate with teammates to push out of Mid Library with a flash or stall opponents in A Main by unleashing Meddle first and then pushing out with a flash. Clove is a Controller who has a high-risk high-reward ratio. However, going solo without any support from teammates can be devastating.

It is best to have team support while pushing out. This will enable Clove to trade out Duelists while also regaining health to go out and get more frags.

Using Clove's Not Dead Yet (X)

Finally, let's discuss the Agent's Ultimate in this Clove Abyss guide. Not Dead Yet is a fascinating ability that allows Clove to resurrect themselves and become intangible for a limited time to get back to safety. Yet again, it presents an opportunity to take risky fights. If you get eliminated, you can simply come back to the game and go again.

However, to stay alive, players must get a kill or an assist. Pushing out solo is still not a great move but with the ultimate available, it can be feasible. Use it to surprise enemies by pushing out of smoke.
