Why was NRG Valorant coach Chet banned? Reasons explained
NRG Valorant coach, Chetan “Chet” Singh, has been banned from competing in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT). This ruling was laid down in response to the coach's broadcast of certain VODs that were not supposed to be released to the public. However, there's more to the story.
This article will provide readers with a glimpse into why NRG Valorant coach Chet was banned from competing in the ongoing VCT season and beyond.
NRG Valorant coach Chet gets banned from VCT, here's why
NRG's resident coach, Chet, was found flouting the official rules laid down by Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct. Chet broadcasted VODs that were contingent on his current status as head coach for NRG. However, his access to the content was unauthorized by all means.
Defying the official boundaries set by Riot, NRG's coach accessed these VoDs and streamed them online on July 31, 2024. This was a clear violation of the Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct. In response, he has been banned from the VCT. His ban is effective from the release of the official statement by Riot Games and will continue till the end of VCT Masters Bangkok (March 3, 2025).
As per the official statement, Chet failed to request access for permission, and without due authorization, made these VODs available to the public.

In response to the allegations and the sanctions laid upon him, Chet responded on his official X page, stating:
"I disagree with their ruling as no damages were done to either party but I can no longer compete until March so until then I will be streaming in the meantime"
It is evident that the coach feels there has been no damage done to either party, and a season-long ban feels uncalled for. However, Riot Games holds true to its course and feels that defying the Global Esports Code of Conduct should have adequate consequences.
