FIVB announces schedule of Men’s World Olympic Qualification Tournaments – Volleyball news

Finally the wait is over as the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) announced the schedule of the last two Olympic Qualification Tournaments. The information was just released from the head quarters of the International Volleyball Federation in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday, May 31. The last two qualifying tournaments will take place from June 8-10, while Germany and Bulgaria will provide the ground for the competition.

Both tournaments will offer one Olympic ticket each to the top team of the competition. A total of eight teams will be competing for the Olympic slots in the two tournaments. Germany will host the teams from Cuba, Czech Republic, and India. The city of Berlin will be the home action. The Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany has been selected as the match venue.

According to the set rules of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), each team will get to play three matches in the competition. At the end of the Qualification Tournament, the pool topper will advance to the Olympic Games. Two matches will be played on each day.

On day-1, Czech Republic will take on Caribbean team from Cuba. On the other hand, the hosts will cross ways with Indian squad. Germans will have the obvious advantage in the competition. So far they are considered the per-favourites of the competition. Nonetheless, the Cuban team is also likely to create a buzz on the scene.

Likewise, the second tournament will follow the same pattern and schedule. Bulgarian City Sofia will receive teams from Pakistan, Egypt, and France. The Armeets Arena in the centre of Sofia will set up the field of play for the crucial Olympic Qualifying matches. The first match of tournament will feature teams from France and Egypt. In the second match, host Bulgaria will lock horns with green-machines from Pakistan.

Currently, all the participating teams are undergoing tough training and practice. To play in the Olympics is a dream for any team in the world. A total of 12 teams are supposed to the Men’s Volleyball Olympic Tournament. This is the final call for men’s teams to qualify for the Olympics.
