The second edition of the Indian Volleyball League has been postponed to February 2014, reports the Hindu. The event was originally scheduled to be held in three south-Indian cities in the month of November.

Speaking to the press on the reasons why we will not be able to seeing the Volleyball League this year, Ramavtar Singh, secretary-general of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) said : “We don’t have the dates this year”.

The men’s volleyball team is scheduled to play at the 2014 World championship’s Asian qualifiers in Chenzhou, China, between September 20-22.

And after a short break in between, the team will leave for Dubai for the Asian Championships to be held between September 28 and October 6.

Not only that, the team is in for a crammed calendar even after their return from the UAE.

“And when they return, they will be busy with State coaching camps, championships, inter-Railway and Services meets and the senior Nationals in Uttar Pradesh from December 21 to 29.” added Singh.

Chennai, Bangalore and Triprayar in Kerala’s Thrissur district had been designated as the venues for the IVL earlier, but now Delhi is also likely to be included before the IVL begins in February next year.

There is also the possibility of a foreign team, most likely from Qatar, to participate in the tournament.
