VFI inks pact with Baseline Ventures to promote volleyball

Kozhikode, Feb 21 (PTI) The Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) today entered into an agreement with sports marketing and branding firm Baseline Ventures, to promoteand build Indian volleyball.

The ten-year partnership was signed on the sidelines of the 66th senior volleyball nationals being held here with the Core Economic Committee of VFI in attendance.

The first project on the anvil for the partnership is the professional Indian Volleyball League with franchises in majorcities to be held on October this year.

Baseline Ventures, founded in 2014, is a leader in sports,events, entertainment and licensing with offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangaluru and in Singapore.

It represents and manages sportspersons including P V Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Ravindra Jadeja, Pankaj Advani, Himanshu Rana and Arjun Maini among others.

It has been working with IPL, FIFA, ATP and the NBA.

Speaking on the occasion, VFI Secretary-General Ramavtar Singh Jakhar said, "volleyball is an extremely popular sport around the country and India has always been competitive at the Asian level."

"We feel it is the right time to partner with professionals to take the game to the next level in India and continue to grow its appeal, specially with the new generation," he added
