Bengaluru to host Senior National Wrestling Championship 2024 in December

The Senior National Wrestling Championship 2024 will be hosted by the Karnataka Wrestling Association in Bengaluru this December. The premier domestic wrestling competition will be held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium from December 6 to 8.

For the first time the Senior National Wrestling Championship will be hosted by the state of Karnataka. It thus hopes to initiate a revival of the sport in southern India. The competition will feature over 1000 participants and officials from around the country.

A total of 25 affiliated state units as well as the Services Sports Promotion Board and Railway Sports Promotion Board will be participating. The championship will be conducted across three disciplines - Free style, Greco-roman style and Women's wrestling.

Each state unit will be entitled to send a team of up to 10 wrestlers and three coaches per discipline. The competition will be held according to the WFI and UWW rules of wrestling on three approved mats across the different weight categories.


India's top wrestling stars along with budding talent to compete at the Senior National Wrestling Championship 2024

The Senior National Wrestling Championship 2024 will see some India's brightest wrestling talents compete for excellence. The marquee event will feature many of the country's renowned wrestlers such as Paris Olympics bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat and U20 World Wrestling Champion Antim Panghal.

The competion will also serve as a great stage for India's next generation of wrestlers. Gujarat's first-ever wrestler to have competed at the U23 World Wrestling Championships, Bhavika Patel, will also be seen in action. Deepak Punia and Reetika Hooda are some of the other names who would be competing.

The complete list of names will be out by the last week of November. All state units have been mandated to submit their list of wrestlers by November 25. Over the years, the Senior National Wrestling Championship has given the country some of its biggest names in the sport.
