Rio Olympics 2016: Sushil Kumar to move Supreme Court as last resort
India’s most successful individual Olympian ever, wrestler Sushil Kumar is set to move Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court’s Monday verdict that dismissed his plea for selection by trials against the quota earner Narsingh Pancham Yadav.
If sources close to the former World Champion are to be believed, the two-time Olympic medallist has decided on this extreme step as a last straw which he feels might provide an outside possibility of a trial with his compatriot Narsingh who now seems certain to represent India at the 74 kg category of Freestyle Wrestling in Rio Olympics 2016.

Today’s judgement by the Delhi HC had been announced keeping in mind India’s best interests as Justice Manmohan observed that any further protraction of the ‘Sushil or Narsingh’ debate by holding trials between the two might adversely affect the latter’s chances in this year’s Summer Olympics for which less than two months remain now.
However, Sushil Kumar, who despite missing out on a number of international competitions in the past two years has been claiming to be in the best shape of his life at present, has refused to accept the court’s decision and will now be approaching the country’s apex court to settle the ‘most befitting candidate’ to chase glory for India in the wrestling event at the Games that flag off on the 5th of August 2016.
