Sushil congratulates Narsingh after NADA clearance
New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who had a bitter legal tussle with Narsingh Yadav over representing the country in the 74kg freestyle category at the Rio Olympics, was the first to wish the Mumbai wrestler the best after the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) panel cleared him of doping charges.
Narsingh's dream of representing India at Rio could now come true after the NADA panel gave him a clean chit in the doping case, calling him a "victim of sabotage".
Earlier, Narsingh, who bagged the quota with a bronze medal finish in last year's World Championships, was preferred ahead of Sushil Kumar to take part in Rio Games, which fuelled a major legal battle between the two grapplers.
Sushil, however, took to Twitter to congratulate the Mumbai-based wrestler.
"Bahut khushi ki baat hai. Mera support pehle bhi tha aaj bhi hai aur aage bhi rahega. Go win for me and the country #NarsinghYadav. (I am very happy with the verdict. I have always supported him and will continue to do so)," Sushil tweeted.
The 24-year-old's doors to Rio opened after NADA Director General Navin Agarwal said Narsingh was a "victim of sabotage".
