Decorated wrestler Sushil Kumar is set to participate in the 2018 Commonwealth Championships wh. He confirmed the development through Twitter.

The background

Sushil is a multiple wrestling medal winner for India at Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian and World Championships. He won the Bronze and Silver Medal at 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics respectively.

Sushil has been conferred with the Arjuna Award (2005) and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (2009) in addition to Padma Shri.

The heart of the matter

Incidentally, this is the first time that Sushil Kuma r will be representing India in around four years. The veteran grappler had last represented India in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he had won gold in the 74kg category.

Sushil had also won the gold medal in 66 kg category at 2010 Delhi and 74 kg category at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

He will aim to continue his good run in the Commonwealth Championships and win a third-straight event. He is likely to fight in the 74 kg category as he has recently expressed his desire to feature in India's Pro Wrestling League (PWL)'s third season.
