Virender Sehwag appeals for biopic on Sushil Kumar's life
What's the story?
Wrestler Sushil Kumar has endeared himself to the Indian public for some time now following his successful showing at two successive Summer Olympic Games. The wrestler bagged a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and won silver four years later at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the freestyle wrestling category. And now, it seems that one of the most revered Indian cricket batsmen is batting for Sushil to get more than just an Olympic medal.
Former Indian cricket team batsman Virender Sehwag has revealed via his official Twitter account that it is about time that Sushil Kumar had his own biopic made for all his achievements to Indian sport. The opening batsman highlighted the inspiration that Sushil Kumar is and the various struggles the wrestler had to go through to get to this point. Check it out:
In case you didn't know...
Virender Sehwag and Sushil Kumar both come from the Najafgarh area in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Their paths are quite similar, with Sehwag working hard to make it big in cricket while Sushil realised his dream of winning medals for India at the Olympics.
The heart of the matter
The rousing approval of Sehwag with regards to Sushil Kumar is not the first time that the wrestler has been acknowledged as an inspiration. Young wrestler Sakshi Malik too recently called him the inspiration behind her pursuit of success in the world of wrestling.
Following the success of biopics such as Dangal and M.S. Dhoni, it may just be a matter of time before Sushil Kumar gets a biopic or at least a documentary of his own.
What's next?
It remains to be seen whether the biopic will make its way to cinemas soon but as of now, Sushil continues to focus on his career in wrestling.
Author's take
A biopic on Sushil's life would easily be quite popular and his story is quite an inspirational one and deserves to be told around the world.
