ROH/NJPW News: Possible alliance between top wrestling promotions
Wrestling fans have witnessed on more than a few occasions the exchange of talents between several wrestling promotions. New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and Ring of Honor (ROH) took it a step further and decided to co-organise some events where wrestlers of both the promotions could square off against each other.
NJPW Superstars like Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi have spent times in TNA and Mexico-based CMLL wrestling promotions respectively. Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre Co. Ltd (CMLL) was founded in 1933 and is probably the oldest pro wrestling promotion in the world.
- According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "there has been movement for an alliance" with some of these top organisations. Cagesideseats.com mentions that NJPW, ROH, CMLL are interested in such deals.
- Till now, this is a rumored ‘deal’. No information has been provided on, what kind of ‘alliance’ the promotions may form. Many believe it could most likely lead to a TV deal.
- If it turns out to be a TV deal then the promotions may either decide to join forces to knock off the highest rated wrestling shows or to make sure that their own shows never collide while airing on TV.
