Her antics just made the audience hate the wrestler she managed

Possibly, the standard bearer for a heel valet. Sensational Sherri Martel’s managerial skills belongs in the elite list which has Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, Paul Heyman and Paul Bearer. Neither was Sherri a damsel in distress nor one to shy away from an altercation. If needed, she would interfere on behalf of the wrestler she was managing.

She managed Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage’ and helped make HBK’s singles’ career great (the influence of that partnership still rings true in his entrance theme). Her heat garnering tactics helped make both men memorable heels.

Her aura, the painted face, her promos with its perfect crescendos and sotto voce plus the scream made her a really sensational character
