Tag-team wrestling is something WWE just doesn't do well enough and enough of on the main roster right now. After a SummerSlam card without either men's titles defended, we decided to take a look back at the history of the tag titles in WWE and some unlikely pairs who were once Tag-Team Champions.

We start off our list with ‘The Face That Runs The Place’ John Cena and former Nexus member David Otunga. This isn’t the only time Cena appears on this list but let’s take a look at his partnership with David Otunga first.

Cena and Otunga became tag-team partners after Cena was briefly forced to join The Nexus in 2010. Despite being a tag-team for a relatively short period of time, Cena and Otunga won the WWE Tag-Team Championships at Bragging Rights 2010 from Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes.

Cena and Otunga dropped the titles to Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, fellow Nexus members, the following night on RAW.

#9 CM Punk and Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston is currently the WWE Champion while CM Punk, at the time of writing, has vowed to never return to pro wrestling despite repeated rumors linking him with a return. Punk and Kingston are actually good friends behind the scenes and something some fans may have forgotten is that Kofi and Punk were a successful tag-team back in the day.

During their run as a tag-team, Punk and Kofi won the titles from Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. on an episode of RAW in 2008.
