2 things WWE got right and 2 blunders they made on RAW and SmackDown Live this week (5 & 6 August 2019)

It was awesome
It was awesome

We witnessed two stellar episodes before SummerSlam. The company carried the impressive run from last week and managed to offer a good episode. In all honesty, RAW toppled SmackDown Live this week. As expected, some new matches were confirmed for SummerSlam this week.

Two titles changed hands on RAW, as The IIconics lost the Women's Tag Team Titles. Maria Kanellis also lost the 24/7 Title. Ricochet teamed up with the New Day to fight The OC, and Andrade and Rey Mysterio delivered an impressive match.

On the Blue Brand, Ziggler defeated Ali to build momentum and Natalya fought Ember Moon. While Finn Balor skipped SmackDown Live, Bray Wyatt offered another episode of the Firefly Fun House.

Following RAW and SmackDown Live, a few matches could get finalized for SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see if WWE announces some new bouts on social media. Let's check 2 things WWE did right and 2 things WWE didn't do right this week.

#2 Blunder: New Women's Tag Team Champions were crowned

The Women's Tag Team Titles changed hands last week when Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross became the new champions. While it could be a breath of fresh air, it was certainly not a good decision before SummerSlam. A Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match took place to crown the new champions this week. The IIconics defended to twin belts against The Kabuki Warriors, Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville, and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross.

The IIconics won the titles at the Showcase of Immortals but they didn't defend the titles regularly. As a matter of fact, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay never put the belts on the line in a pay-per-view.

Though they were not fighting champions, WWE should have waited a couple of more days to crown new champions. In my humble opinion, the match should have taken place at SummerSlam instead of RAW.

It didn't make sense to give us new Women's Tag Team Champions just before the big show on Sunday. Moreover, the twin belts could have been on the line for the first time in a pay-per-view after WrestleMania 35.
