2-time World Champion to join AEW after being released by Triple H following altercation? Potential twist explored
Triple H recently announced that the first-ever Crown Jewel Champion will be determined when Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes faces World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Crown Jewel. However, despite The Ring General being the imminent threat, Cody Rhodes' main issues lie with his old friend-turned-rival Kevin Owens.
After Rhodes teamed up with Roman Reigns to face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood, The Prizefighter turned on his friend and brutally attacked him in the parking lot. The following week on SmackDown, he again tried to attack The American Nightmare but was stopped by Randy Orton. Owens then attacked Orton in the parking lot as well. Owens was eventually suspended for his actions.
There is talk that Owens' current WWE contract is set to expire soon. While he is in negotiations with the company, The Chief Creative Officer could' fire' him and write him off if he chooses to sign with AEW. Last week on SmackDown, when Orton demanded a match against Owens at Crown Jewel, General Manager Nick Aldis told him that 'higher ups' would not sanction it.
Considering The Game has made such a big deal about the match between Rhodes and Gunther for the Crown Jewel Championship, he will be furious if the former Universal Champion interferes and ruins the finish. Owens could disturb the match between the two world champions by trying to harm Cody Rhodes.
Triple H could come out and try to stop the chaos. The former ROH World Champion, Owens, could then have an altercation with The Game, leading to his release from WWE. He could then go on to join AEW.
Triple H must ensure Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther has a clean finish
The Chief Creative Officer Triple H unveiled the new Crown Jewel Championship himself at Bad Blood. The reason Kevin Owens has been suspended may be because The Game doesn't want any distractions for the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes while he focuses on facing Gunther.
The 'higher-up' mentioned by Nick Aldis is likely Triple H and he might have barred Owens from competing at Crown Jewel so he doesn't pull any shenanigans during the main event. With Owens' contract close to running out, his getting into a scuffle with The Game and getting released would be the perfect way to write him off.
