16-time WWE champion to return from hiatus and turn heel after 22 months on Cody Rhodes? Exploring possible swerve

Cody Rhodes is preparing for a blockbuster match at Bad Blood in three weeks. The Undisputed WWE Champion will team up with the returning Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

The match became official in the season premiere of SmackDown on Friday night, as the two superstars are set to add more fuel to their rivalry with Solo and the new version of The Bloodline.

However, there is one superstar who might not be happy with the partnership between the two superstars. The superstar in question is none other than Seth Rollins.

The Visionary is currently out with an injury but could be back soon, and this time he could move to SmackDown and target the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion.

The reason is that Seth Rollins wouldn't want to see Cody Rhodes team up with Roman Reigns after their rivalry at WrestleMania 40, when the Visionary sacrificed his body to help Cody against The Rock and Roman Reigns.

Thus, the former World Heavyweight Champion could have a heel turn after almost two years and go after the reigning champion on SmackDown. The last time Seth Rollins was a heel was 22 months ago, back in early November 2022. Since then, he has been a face.

Seth Rollins not close to a WWE return yet

Even though there is a possibility that Seth Rollins will go after Cody Rhodes, due to the latter's partnership with Roman Reigns, it appears that his return to action is not close enough at the moment.

WWE has hinted at a Rollins' return on the December 2 episode of Monday Night RAW, which is two days after the Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event.

This means that he could stay out for two and a half more months, which wouldn't rule out the possibility of turning on Cody Rhodes, since the latter's storyline with Reigns, Solo and The Bloodline is far from over.

It is also worth mentioning that Seth will also go after CM Punk once he returns, as he has unfinished business with The Best in the World, and it appears that WWE plans to have a match between the two at WrestleMania 41.
