3 Botches Lilian Garcia made on her first night back on WWE RAW
Lilian Garcia returned to WWE as ring announcer on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW tonight. The veteran replaced Samantha Irvin, who has quit the company. Joe Tessitore introduced the renowned ring announcer amid thunderous applause from fans. Garcia isn’t new to the job and holds two decades of experience announcing match cards for the Stamford-based promotion.
The 58-year-old started announcing for WWE on the August 23, 1999, episode of RAW is War in Ames, Iowa. She went on to announce for the next 11 years before taking a break in 2009. Garcia returned full-time in 2011 and continued until 2016. In all these years, she established herself as a prominent voice in WWE and received recognition. And now, on October 21, 2024, the legend made her comeback.
After being away for so long, Lilian Garcia made some minor botches, which have now become a hot topic of discussion among fans on social media. Below are three botches she made on the Monday Night show.
#1. Lilian Garcia called the 'Contenders' match a 'Containers' match
The first botch of the night was hilarious, with the veteran ring announcer calling the No.1 Tag Team Championship Contenders Tournament the No. 1 Tag Team 'Containers' Tournament.
She briefly paused after she said 'containers', but then quickly jumped in with the word 'tournament,' thus glossing over the error. Her botches became the talking point of the night as she ended up making two more.
#2. She announced Dominik Mysterio as accompanying Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez
The second botch of the night came when Lilian Garcia announced Dominik Mysterio as accompanying Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to the ring. In reality, Dirty Dom was still backstage.
He only came out during the middle of the match to save his lady love, Morgan, from Rhea Ripley. This might have possibly been a result of the wrong card being handed to her before the match.
#3. The veteran announced LWO members Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, who weren't even there
The third botch came when Lilian Garcia announced the names of LWO members Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro when they were not even in the arena. It was LWO members Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee who came out for their World Tag Team Title Number One Contenders match against American Made.
Garcia, not realizing that Wilde and Del Toro weren’t with Mysterio and Lee, announced them as accompanying Mysterio. However, fans didn’t take any offense and on social media, they blamed WWE staff for giving her the wrong cards.
Be that as it may, despite having been away from the ring for a long while, Lilian Garcia did not let fans feel that she was doing it after a long time. She spoke confidently throughout the night, and that is what ultimately matters.
Who would have thought that the 58-year-old ring announcer would return only a few months after making a special appearance in the company? On the May 13 episode of RAW, the renowned ring announcer showed up and even called Samantha Irvin to the stage, passing the baton to her.
