3 female factions that failed in WWE
In recent years WWE has been applauded for their booking of the women's division. Top stars like Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Bianca Belair have all emerged as main event performers.
During that time many top factions in the division have also emerged, such as Damage CTRL and Toxic Attraction.
However, despite these teams making a great impact in the company, we are going to take a look at three female factions that arguably failed in WWE.
#3. Team Bad lived up to their name
In 2015, WWE's women's division was finally getting the recognition it deserved with many of the performers getting a chance to shine in main event matches.
To bolster the roster, the company chose to call up three performers from NXT who would go on to become some of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time in the form of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks.
Sasha would join forces with Naomi and Tamina to form Team B.A.D. on RAW. While the trio appeared to have chemistry, the faction lasted only a few months before the company chose to turn Banks face and have her stand tall as a solo star.
Following her debut in AEW earlier this year, Banks heaped praise on Naomi and Tamina as well as her friend Bayley whilst speaking to 98.5 Stick To Wrestling.
"Those are my girls. It doesn't matter if they're watching from home, if they saw on Twitter. They are supporting me with their hearts, their soul, everything. Just a matter of fact that they could show up in person and have the time off to be there for such a special moment for me, it always means so much to me. Those girls are my ride and die for life. I appreciate my Team BAD, and the extra Bayley, we got the four stacks on top. They are the best."
#2. Paige fails to usher in a new era in WWE
In 2017, after WWE was well and truly all in on the women's division, a returning Paige shocked the fans on RAW as she and a debuting Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville attacked Sasha Banks, Mickie James, and Bayley to form the group known as Absolution.
The faction's time together would be short-lived partly due to the unfortunate timing of Paige's severe neck injury, which she picked up only a few months after the group debuted.
Deville and Rose would both go on to achieve great things away from the faction in the later years of their careers, most notably with Mandy when she became the leader of the dominant stable, Toxic Attraction, in NXT.
Speaking to Fightful Mandy Rose thanked Paige for the lessons she taught her which she took when she became a leader of her own group.
"The comparison with Absolution and Paige keeps coming up because it was only three and a half, four years ago when Absolution was born and we debuted on Monday Night Raw. A few years later, I’m doing that and I’m the leader and being Paige. I never thought that…I thought maybe in the future it could happen, but not so soon. It’s really cool and Paige taught us so much and I’m reflecting on the things that she taught us when we were kind of in that stage."
#1. A lackluster intro to two future WWE megastars
As well as Team Bad, another faction that was randomly put together in 2015 was the poorly named 'Team PCB'.
Coincidentally consisting of Paige, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair, what should have been an introduction to two new young performers as well as a revamp for Paige, led to all three being cast incorrectly and the group disbanding almost immediately after it started.
The group did see Charlotte Flair win her first Divas Title, but it also had Lynch and Paige work as background performers, which left many fans as well as the stars themselves upset.
Now two of the biggest stars in WWE history, Lynch and Flair have both had some disagreements over the years. Speaking to Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Lynch spoke about the rivalry that she and Flair shared both in and out of the ring.
"That is the thing with Charlotte. We were best friends, we were like sisters, then we fell out, wrestling came between us. Then we came back together, then the notorious fallout with the titles, but I think throughout all of that, if she ever needed anything, I’d be there for her, and I think if I ever needed anything, she’d be there for me."
While all three stars in Team PCB have had fantastic careers, their time in this faction is certainly a moment that they will not put at the top of their list when it comes to accomplishments.
