3 possible reasons why Bray Wyatt's new gimmick received backlash
The Eater of Worlds returned with a new gimmick last week on Raw, and while it got the WWE Universe buzzing, the shareholders reportedly didn't like the new gimmick.
Bray jokingly posted a tweet with regards the rumors, but it seems the stockholders aren't willing to drop the issue.
They want the new gimmick shelved, effective immediately. Here are some possible reasons why the gimmick received backlash.
#3 It doesn't look PG
Bray Wyatt's character isn't like John Cena or Roman Reigns', which are friendly and stand for the right things. He is demented and loves to inflict pain on others. Also, Wyatt used a chainsaw to cut a cardboard depiction of his last character while unveiling the new gimmick, that can't be considered child-friendly.
It is important to understand that the company works under PG guidelines, and the depiction of violence (with the chainsaw) may have caused the company shareholders to arrive at the decision.
It is important to understand that the gimmick was inspired by his previous character, which was loved by the fans, but if the business owners don't regard it to be good enough, then creative have to toe the line.
While this is a setback for WWE Creative and Bray Wyatt fans alike, we have to wait and see how the company approaches this. Will they make it a part of the gimmick? Or will the promos be shelved during this week's episodes of Raw and SmackDown?
#2 It seemingly didn't have shades of his previous successful character
Although he said in the promo that he isn't going back to his previous ways, truth be told, that was an entertaining gimmick, and the reason why The Wyatt Family became a success.
This time around, he returned in a more friendly manner, and that is not a way we are used to seeing Bray Wyatt. The gimmick left the WWE Universe abuzz.
However, we need to see more aspects of the character. Will he be more demented than the last gimmick? Or will he be totally different?
More information will unfold on this week's episode of Raw.
