3 reasons Braun Strowman partnered up with Finn Balor (March 18, 2019)
Bray Wyatt, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Ricochet, and many other names were circulating the internet before the show last night. These names were being associated with Finn Balor’s match against Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush, as he was set to pick a partner for the match.
Instead, Balot stuck to the name everyone wants by their side. Braun Strowman was revealed as Balor’s partner for the night, sending chills down the backs of their opponents.
While WWE could have chosen any other man to partner with Balor, it was quite surprising to see them go with Braun Strowman instead.
Strowman has been down and out for some time and has been out of high profile matches since getting in the bad books of the management again.
While partnering Balor with Strowman could just be a one-off thing, it could also have some deeper reasons which could have an impact in the future.
Let’s take a look at 3 reasons Balor picked Strowman to be his partner for the night, and the impact it could have on the men involved in the future.
#3 To find some relevance
Strowman has battled almost all the mid-card heels on the main roster. He has been put in extended feuds with Baron Corbin, Jinder Mahal, Elias, and many others since the past year or so. Bobby Lashley is currently the only mid-card heel who hasn’t faced extended wrath of the Monster Among Men yet.
Since losing his spot for the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble, Braun Strowman has spiraled down and crashed hard. He has failed to become a crowd puller again and has been kept to one-off matches where he hasn’t really stolen the spotlight.
With WrestleMania 35 fast approaching, it is possible that Vince & Co are going to restore some of Strowman’s relevance before the show so that he becomes a crowd puller at the event.
Strowman has already announced that he will be a part of the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and since the match is never very high-profile, maybe WWE wants to bring Braun Strowman back to the upper-card and also increase the value of the match.
