3 reasons why CM Punk will defeat Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024

After months of ambushes and mind-games, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will settle their long-standing differences at SummerSlam 2024 with Seth "Freakin" Rollins serving as the Special Guest Referee. The Straight Edge Superstar and The Scottish Warrior's program has been heavily praised owing to the amazing character work at play and high-quality storytelling.

Considering the reception and popularity of the RAW stars, the WWE Universe would be pleased with any outcome except for a cheap or controversial finish. However, here, we propose three reasons why CM Punk should emerge victorious at The Biggest Party of The Summer.

#3. CM Punk cannot lose his first singles match in WWE in 10 years

The Second City Saint returned home at Survivor Series: WarGames in his hometown of Chicago. Two months later, he wrestled in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match, where he suffered a serious injury that put him on the shelf for months.

Punk has relied heavily on his promo work without getting too physical due to the injury. WWE has expertly held off his return to singles action for a major occasion like SummerSlam.

The immense hype puts the former WWE Champion in a must-win situation. The fans need to know that Punk can still go in the ring and back up his words. A victory would earn their support and put him in a strong position.

#2. Punk going over McIntyre could prolong this feud till Bad Blood

Assuming Drew McIntyre goes over, the win would probably be controversial. The Scottish Warrior could use under-handed tactics, eg: weapons, low-blows, etc., or Seth Rollins could help McIntyre defeat CM Punk.

Either way, McIntyre's story would finish in that scenario. The tables will have turned for luck has finally sided with The Scottish Warrior on a big occasion. With Punk in the rear-view mirror, there would be no one to con him and cost him opportunities.

However, considering the positive reception of the program and the great depth of storytelling, WWE would be wise to prolong the feud until Bad Blood, where they could have the blow-off to their grudge feud.

If Punk wins, McIntyre would have more reason to pursue him as The Straight Edge Superstar stole his moment again. More likely, if Rollins gets involved and Punk takes advantage, McIntyre's hard luck will continue, and he will make more excuses.

#1. Seth Rollins could avenge his WrestleMania loss

While Seth Rollins' brewing animosity with CM Punk has taken center stage in recent weeks, fans should not lose sight of Rollins' long-standing history with McIntyre.

The Scottish Warrior dethroned The Visionary at WrestleMania: Night Two, ending Rollins' acclaimed World Heavyweight Championship reign. Had McIntyre not cashed in his Money in the Bank contract mid-way through Rollins vs. Damian Priest, the Architect would have regained the World Title at MITB.

Therefore, Rollins has reason to cost McIntyre a major win. This would give him revenge while putting off his impending rivalry with Punk and setting up another with McIntyre.
