3 reasons why Drew McIntyre must win the Hell In A Cell match against CM Punk at WWE Bad Blood

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk are set to go to war inside Hell In A Cell at WWE Bad Blood 2024. After eight months of sneak attacks, bloodshed, and vicious promo exchanges, Punk and McIntyre are set to bring their red-hot feud to a violent crescendo in the hellish structure. With one victory each in their back pockets so far, both men are looking to win their third encounter.

As arguably the best rivalry of the year comes to a conclusion, an all-important question arises: who should win the blowoff match? Should The Voice of the Voiceless come out on top in his first big feud back in the Triple H-led promotion? Or should The Scottish Warrior be rewarded for arguably the best character work of his career?

Here are three reasons why Drew McIntyre must defeat CM Punk inside Hell In A Cell at WWE Bad Blood 2024

#3. Drew McIntyre needs a win at WWE Bad Blood more than CM Punk

Despite being a three-time World Champion, Drew McIntyre has never been presented as the face of WWE. The Scottish Warrior has been on a whole different level since returning to the Stamford-based promotion in 2017. But many fans feel he is not quite "pushed" on the same level as the likes of Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns.

With McIntyre doing what is widely acknowledged as the best work of his career, a decisive win in a red-hot feud against a megastar of CM Punk's magnitude could give him that extra boost. One could argue that Punk should win his first feud back in the company, but it would not do as much for his career.

#2. Drew McIntyre has suffered more storyline damage in this feud than CM Punk

Drew McIntyre's feud with CM Punk began at the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble when he injured the latter with a Future Shock DDT. Since then, the duo has gone back and forth, finding new ways to inflict physical and psychological pain on each other. Both men have suffered huge storyline losses ranging from title opportunities to sentimental personal items.

While Punk has lost the now-famous bracelet with his wife AJ Lee and dog Larry's names on it, McIntyre has lost at least three World Title opportunities. The Scottish Warrior has been physically dominant but ultimately suffered more loss in this feud. He should thus get the final laugh, potentially catapulting himself to the front of the line for another World Title shot.

#1. CM Punk can be protected in defeat to Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood

Over the course of Drew McIntyre's feud with CM Punk, the former has been positioned as the villain, albeit a complex one with understandable motivations. As the heel, McIntyre has had more moral flexibility regarding what he can do within the limits of his character. He is able to cut more corners and take more shortcuts, which in turn protects his opponent.

This could come into play at WWE Bad Blood, with The Scottish Warrior taking The Voice of the Voiceless to his limit and stooping lower to get the victory. This way, the six-time World Champion would look strong in defeat, allowing him to come out of the rivalry unscathed. On the other hand, a Punk win would almost certainly hurt McIntyre's credibility because it would need to be fair and square.

Thus, Drew McIntyre coming out on top as WWE Bad Blood over CM Punk would make more sense.
