3 Reasons why Uncle Howdy did not compete in WWE RAW Street Fight match
WWE Monday Night RAW's season premiere aired on the USA Network tonight. As part of WWE Week, this episode featured a commercial-free first hour. To truly kick things off with a bang, a fantastic bout started the show.
The opening match of the night was an Eight-Person Tag Team Street Fight. The Wyatt Sicks' Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, and Nikki Cross took on American Made's Chad Gable, Brutus Creed, Julius Creed, and Ivy Nile. It was an incredible spectacle.
Notably, the leader of The Wyatt Sicks was not officially involved in the bout. Instead, Uncle Howdy sat at ringside for the majority of the contest. He eventually got involved, albeit in an unofficial capacity, thanks to the interference allowed by the match, but he was not technically part of the match.
Some fans wonder why Bo Dallas, aka Uncle Howdy, did not officially compete. While World Wrestling Entertainment revealed no reasons, several possible explanations exist for the decision. This article will tackle a handful of potential reasons for Howdy not being in the match.
#3. Uncle Howdy rarely competing keeps him special
WWE is in the show business. The likes of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Logan Paul, The Rock, Rhea Ripley, and CM Punk, among others, are major stars in Sports Entertainment and, in some cases, the rest of the wrestling world.
For some of those names, WWE has taken a "less is more" approach. Roman Reigns, Logan Paul, The Rock, CM Punk, and Rhea Ripley tend to compete only in big-time matches at important shows. For example, they're typically reserved for a PLE or wrestle less frequently.
So far, Uncle Howdy's only match since returning to the promotion was in the main event of Monday Night RAW. That match felt important, which is seemingly the goal. That could be exactly why Uncle Howdy wasn't included in the match on the red brand.
Triple H may want Uncle Howdy to only wrestle on occasion so he comes across as a special attraction. Additionally, if Howdy competes, it will likely only be in a main event spot or a major event. Competing in the opening bout of RAW just wouldn't work if the goal is to make Howdy feel important.
#2. This allows the other members of The Wyatt Sicks to shine
The Wyatt Sicks is one of the biggest stables in WWE, regarding how many members are in the group and the overall size of the stars in the stable. Uncle Howdy leads, but he is joined by the imposing Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, and Nikki Cross. The group is fantastic.
Despite that, all four of Howdy's underlings are in dire need of exposure. Rowan has been gone from the company for years, Joe Gacy is new to WWE's main roster, and both Lumis and Cross have suffered from being treated as comedy acts or have been rarely used for quite some time.
The Wyatt Sicks members need to be rehabilitated, and they need exposure for this to happen. While Uncle Howdy's time as Bo Dallas certainly needed course correction, he seems to already be fine and is treated as a big deal by fans.
Uncle Howdy was likely kept out of the Monday Night RAW Eight-Person Tag Team Street Fight to allow other stars to shine and win a big victory. In the end, Howdy was still involved, so it helped everybody.
#1. WWE may want to have Uncle Howdy and Chad Gable clash one more time
While Uncle Howdy leads The Wyatt Sicks, Chad Gable leads American Made. He runs the WWE stable, while Ivy Nile and The Creed Brothers work with him. American Made was born after Chad separated from The Alpha Academy.
Gable's separation and mistreatment of The Alpha Academy truly led to Uncle Howdy and The Wyatt Sicks targeting him. The root of the issues between the two stables comes down to Howdy's disgust for Chad Gable.
Even after the two clashed recently, hatred and resentment remained. Both men trashed the other, and they've gone on to get physical again. This could mean that Triple H and WWE officials plan for the two to have one last one-on-one match. If that's the case, it makes sense not to have both men involved in the Eight-Person Tag Team Street Fight.
