3 Reasons why Brock Lesnar vs The Rock should main event Wrestlemania 35 and Rumble reasons it should not
Well, here we go again with the Rock returning to the ring rumours.
With the WWE having to call an audible of having Charlotte Flair face Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series due to the injuries sustained by Becky Lynch, some have shifted the focus to who is rumoured to main event Wrestlemania 35.
While Flair and Rousey still can feasibly main event the show, the 'first-time-ever' glare will wear off after they square off this Sunday. Maybe it turns into a triple threat with Becky Lynch. That would be an awesome main event.
I'd have no problem if the two muscle men were in the main event, I just would hope the Universal Title wouldn't have to be involved. Both are big enough stars that they wouldn't need the belt to sell the feud.
But knowing Vince and marketing and history, he would keep the belt with Brock for the sake of the feud. So with the match still a possibility and the Rock always willing to come back for a marquee match at Wrestlemania, could this match go on last in April?
#3 SHOULD: It's one of the biggest money matches left on the table
Brock Lesnar and the Rock are two of the biggest stars in the history of the industry. They did have a match at Summerslam back in 2002 for the Undisputed Title in which Brock took the title from the Rock.
Lesnar was still in his 'Next Big Thing' run and him beating someone the calibre of the Rock cemented his status as top dog of that era. Although both would eventually depart the company by 2004, a rematch between the two has always been at the back of the mind of WWE creative.
Brock left to pursue a career in the NFL but was unsuccessful. He then went to NJPW and became IWGP Heavyweight Champion in his first match. That didn't last long either so he pursued an MMA career.
In his first run with the UFC, he captured the UFC Heavyweight Title after beating UFC legend Randy Couture. As his star was growing, so was the Rock's in Hollywood. Since leaving the WWE the Rock has become the second highest-paid actor in the world currently behind only George Clooney.
Both wrestlers have star power outside of the WWE and that is something McMahon loves to use. Although both are still part-time superstars, they have the biggest name value to give the WWE and a main event. With the big names comes more money and hopefully viewers who watched the two in their heyday who might not watch wrestling now.
If it guarantees that it will make a lot of bank, you know Vince will do everything in his power to make it happen.
