In a surprising turn of events, Braun Strowman was stripped off his chance to compete at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar by Vince McMahon.
This was done due to the fact that Strowman dismantled Vince’s limo while on the chase for Baron Corbin who had mocked Strowman in a segment.
In the aftermath, we saw a fatal four-way match set up by Vince McMahon where John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Finn Balor went head to head for a chance to become the number one contender for the championship.
Balor first beat Jinder Mahal to keep his spot in the match, and then pinned Cena in the fatal four-way match on the same night to earn his spot for the top championship at the Rumble.
While many fans would be content with Balor’s progression to the championship match, others would not be too happy.

Finn Balor is a former NXT Champion who held the title for 292 days which is the longest period anyone has held the developmental brand’s prestigious belt.
He went one-up when he became the inaugural WWE Universal Championship but had to relinquish the title a day later due to an injury.
Balor has again gotten a chance to win the top championship of Raw and being the underdog against one of the most brutal men in the world of wrestling allows him to get the fans behind him and get an opportunity to prove he is the best man on the flagship brand despite his size.
