3 reasons why the Royal Rumble Universal Championship Triple threat match is a bad idea

Triple Threat Match
This match does not draw any excitement from the fans

It's time for the 2018 Royal Rumble and we can already feel the excitement brewing among the fans as they are waiting to see which Superstar will be the one to win the 30-man battle royale and go on to face either the WWE Champion or the Universal Champion at Wrestlemania 34.

But let's keep that aside for the moment and concentrate on the Universal Championship triple threat match where the champion, Brock Lesnar, puts his title on the line against Kane and Braun Strowman.

Many of us were expecting Finn Balor to face Lesnar for the championship at the Royal Rumble, but that wasn't to be case.

The rumour mill states that the reason behind Finn Balor not being Brock Lesnar's opponent for the championship is because Vince McMahon does not feel that the former Universal champion is not over with the fans.

WWE may have their fair share of reasons why the triple threat match is good for business, but I have the following three reasons to say why this match will not live up to the hype.

#3 Kane does not need to be in championship pursuit at this stage of his career

Kane is running for the office of the Mayor of Knox County

It's not an overstatement if one says there will be no Undertaker without Kane. The Big Red Machine has had a legendary two-decade long career with the largest wrestling promotion in the world. After having various gimmicks in his initial stages in the company, he debuted as the demonic brother of the Undertaker, the sight of him ripping through the doors of the hell in a cell was chilling to watch and was the start of a legendary career for the 7 foot giant.

Over the years, Kane has won multiple championships in the WWE and cemented his place as a future Hall of Famer.

Kane now works only a limited schedule and he made it clear that he has political ambitions and announced his official campaign to run for the office of the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

With that said, there is little or no sense in having Kane in the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble as it is clear that he will not be a full-time player for the WWE going forward.
