3 reasons why the WWE Universe is slowly turning on Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is undoubtedly among the most talented performers of the last few decades. His unique move-set is just one of the reasons why fans thoroughly enjoy his matches. You can never fully predict what the Kingslayer has up his sleeve until the end of the show.
It should be noted however that WWE is a part of the Sports Entertainment industry. As important the in-ring skills are, a compelling character is equally crucial to succeed in the business and connect with the audience. During his heel run, Rollins did a remarkable job, both in the ring and in terms of his character. His face run, however, seems a little too generic.
After Roman Reigns left for SmackDown Live a few months ago, it became evident that Seth Rollins would take over as the Flagship show's next top babyface. Although Rollins never ceases to amaze in the ring, his promo work has become quite repetitive. This has caused a significant decline in the number of his supporters.
Many members of the WWE Universe have already started getting tired of the Architect and here are 3 main reasons why it is happening.
#3 Struggling to find a character
As mentioned above, a Superstar can only go so far with exceptional in-ring skills. A unique character is essential to stay over with the fans. Superstars like The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, etc. remained successful for the most part of their career due to portraying characters that set them apart from others.
Seth Rollins had a strong character from 2014-2016 during his heel run and he played it to perfection. In the fall of 2016, he completed his face turn after being betrayed by The Authority. Although the heroic character seemed fresh at start, it became stale real quick. Reunion with Dean Ambrose and becoming an integral part of the Intercontinental Title picture saved him the need of adopting a solid character.
Then after being promoted to the main event scene once again, Rollins' flaws were exposed. His promos became old soon and his words started sounding less engaging over time. In WWE, a "Never Give Up" attitude can get a Superstar over, but they need to do something exceptional to stay at the top. It will be interesting to see if Rollins can find that edge in his character.
