3 Reasons why WWE did not let IYO SKY dethrone Liv Morgan at Saturday Night’s Main Event

Liv Morgan wrapped up an incredible year with a spectacular title defense against IYO SKY at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2024. This could probably be her last title match of the year. The Miracle Kid has been the reigning Women’s World Champion for seven months.

Morgan’s astonishing win over IYO has once again welcomed her back into the win column after suffering a sore loss at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Premium Live Event. As Champion, Liv had much weight on her shoulders, and she decided to engage in an all-out war against The Genius of the Sky, securing a clean victory.

However, numerous fans supported the narrative of Sky winning and facing Rhea Ripley for the title next.

In this article, let’s take a look at three reasons why the Stamford-based promotion did not allow The Genius of the Sky to dethrone Morgan.

#3. Liv Morgan’s Unfinished Saga

Liv Morgan has been feuding with the former Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley for months. Dominik Mysterio betrayed Mami and cost her title match against Morgan and joined forces with her at SummerSlam 2024.

Another turning point for The Nightmare was the return of Raquel Rodriguez, who made her astonishing comeback at Bad Blood 2024 as the bodyguard of The Miracle Kid. After Liv Morgan emerged victorious over SKY, Ripley made an appearance and had an intense face-off with the 30-year-old.

Most likely both women are set to put the final nail in the coffin in their saga with another singles title match at Royal Rumble 2025.

#2. IYO SKY lacks character

IYO SKY has carried the WWE Women’s Championship in the past and her stint as titleholder on the blue brand made sense as she had a perfect WrestleMania storyline with Damage Ctrl and Bayley involved in it.

However, since she turned babyface on RAW, much is missing from her character, she would need more time and perfect story angles which could generate more interest in her feuds before she recaptures the gold.

It appears 2025 could be a perfect year for SKY to establish herself as a babyface superstar.

#1. Liv Morgan has been an expectational heel

Under Triple H’s creative supervision, the Stamford-based promotion has been riding a massive wave of success. However, there’s a department where they lack and are working preciously to fix the situation. The issue is that the company does not have enough credible heels in the company.

Liv Morgan is among some rare heel gems Triple H has managed to craft. Costing her match against IYO SKY would have negatively impacted Morgan’s character who has been doing a spectacular job as a heel which could be seen as another reason SKY did not dethrone The Miracle Kid.
