3 reasons why WWE shouldn't break up The New Day

The New Day is one of the greatest stables in WWE history. The three-man faction was formed in July 2014, and it continues to make its mark in the biggest wrestling company on earth.

The stable initially featured Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods. Together, the trio was tremendously successful, but Big E has been absent from in-ring action since March 2022 due to an injury. This has left just Woods and Kingston as the faces of the group.

Unfortunately, things have been going awry for them as of late. There has been a lot of tension between the two, specifically at the end of Xavier Woods. The former King of the Ring has been losing his patience frequently, and many expect a split.

While there is certainly intrigue around this potential booking decision, it would be a mistake to split The New Day. This article will take a look at a handful of reasons why the legendary stable should remain together moving forward, and this tension should eventually fade.

Below are three reasons why WWE shouldn't break up The New Day:

#3. Fans don't want to see them break up

The first and perhaps most important reason why breaking up The New Day on WWE television is a bad idea comes down to fans and fan morale. The audience, at least at large, simply doesn't seem to want to see the group split.

Naturally, there will always be some who disagree, but when teases of the two splitting happen on RAW, social media is littered with fans upset and asking the company to not make the decision.

Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have had a bond with the WWE Universe both in and outside of the ring for years.

Plus, Woods and Kingston are often seen together on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel. Fans would be extremely disappointed if the duo stopped interacting on that platform because of an on-screen split.

#2. They've been a staple in WWE for a decade and should be moving forward

Another key reason why The New Day shouldn't break up comes down to their position in the company, both now and in the past. Even with Big E's absence from WWE television, The New Day has remained a television staple for a decade.

The younger fans grew up watching Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E. Whether it was the trio feuding with The Wyatt Family, their epic battles with The Usos, or even their NXT Tag Team Championship run, they have been a consistent part of television for years.

It goes beyond just fan complacency, however. Their role in the promotion has meant a lot for tag team wrestling. When WWE hasn't treated the division with as much respect as it deserved, The New Day was the flagbearer of tag team wrestling.

Kofi and Xavier can remain that anchor moving forward. While the likes of The Viking Raiders, The Creed Brothers, Fraxiom, The Bloodline, DIY, and Pretty Deadly can also help carry the weight, having The New Day is key long-term.

#1. A swerve of some kind would be more interesting and entertaining

The final reason why breaking up The New Day would be a massive mistake is simply that, creatively speaking, there are more interesting routes the company could take.

Karrion Kross getting into The New Day's heads, specifically Xavier Woods', is quite interesting. The company could book the heel turn of both men as opposed to just Xavier. In fact, it would probably be more interesting than Woods going out on his own.

This angle could also lead to the return of Big E. If he's still unable to compete, the veteran could show up and talk to both men and bring The New Day back together, fixing the broken bond they once had.

If Big E is medically cleared to compete again in WWE, that would be even better. The big man could still show up as a surprise and bring them together, but now The New Day could work together as a trio and try to rule the company once again. These options are far more interesting than a breakup, feud, and the pair going their separate way.
