3 Signs The Shield 2.0 is in the works in WWE
The Shield is etched in the minds of fans as one of the most iconic factions in WWE history. The Hounds of Justice, which originally consisted of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley, (fka Dean Ambrose), dominated the entire WWE roster upon their arrival and had some epic feuds - notably with The Evolution.
However, a recent cryptic tease during the latest episode of NXT suggests that WWE may have dropped a major hint possibly about The Shield in a new form.
In this article, we will look at three key signs indicating the arrival of a new version of The Shield.
#3. Their debut on WWE NXT
Shield 2.0 debuting in NXT could be the first major hint that WWE has something in the works. Although Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins made their main roster debut as The Shield at Survivor Series in 2012, they were already established stars in NXT. However, the new faction could be absolute fresh faces and may need some time in NXT.
The full revelation of the new faction is set to take place on Vengeance Day - February 15, 2025. Fans are waiting with bated breath to see what the future holds for them and how they will impact the current proceedings.
#2. The mask reference pertaining to The Shield could be another major hint
Fans were quick to notice during the latest episode of NXT that the face mask worn by one of the members was similar to the one worn by Roman Reigns during the initial days of the group.
When Rollins, Reigns, and Ambrose first appeared on the scene they made their entrance through the crowd and wore face masks. The mask in the vignette was eerily similar to the ones worn by the original Shield.
Fans have taken this as a major hint that the group could be the reincarnation of one of the dominant factions in WWE history.
#1. The color scheme of the vignette is similar to that of The Shield
The WWE Universe was also eagle-eyed in noticing the color scheme and the vignette pattern of this yet-unknown group. The silhouette style of the vignettes was unlike any other when The Shield first made their presence felt and signaled an ominous presence.
It seems that the new faction on NXT is getting the same treatment and has the same color scheme, matching the Shield aura and presence. This is a huge indication that WWE is trying their best to present this faction as a second version of The Shield.
With the silhouette and the color scheme Shawn Michaels and his booking team have insinuated that the faction will be one to look out for and could very follow the path of their predecessors - Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose. However, they seem to have a fourth member in their midst, unlike the original Shield.
