3 steps to making Drew McIntyre the WWE Universal Champion

There's a new Champion on the block

Love him or hate him, Drew McIntyre will continue his destruction of the faces on RAW week after week to ensure that his dominance on the main roster remains even when others are finding it difficult to stay relevant to the WWE creative.

McIntyre’s return to Raw has been nothing short of a blockbuster, and he is now ready to hit the home run to win a single’s championship sooner than later so his story on Raw can continue without him becoming irrelevant.

WWE made big mistakes with Braun Strowman by not awarding him championship matches early enough, and then giving him title matches which were extremely underwhelming, making a joke of The Monster Among Men.

They made him win the Money in the Bank contract to deserve a championship shot, which made his entire gimmick a disaster, and since then he has just been running around in search of opponents, and this has not worked out for him.

McIntyre’s storyline has been much better, but the WWE needs to ensure that the villainous character gets his title shots soon, so he can establish himself as one of the top performers of the red brand.

Being a larger superstar and a skilled in-ring athlete has surely helped him shine brighter than the rest, while his equal Bobby Lashley has been running a rather stale and boring gimmick which won’t even get him an Intercontinental Championship shot.

With that said, the creative should work smartly to book The Scottish Psychopath in a title match in which it seems like he deserves the shot more than any other superstar, and not getting an unnecessary push. Here are three steps the creative can follow to ensure that McIntyre becomes the Universal Champion convincingly.

#3 Have him injure Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is advertised to make an appearance at the upcoming episode of Raw. After being taken out and getting severely injured on television by the team of Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin, Strowman underwent a legitimate elbow surgery.

Strowman will most likely return to confirm that he will indeed face Baron Corbin at TLC 2018 no matter what, and lay waste to the General Manager Elect to get his ticket to a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2019.

This will be the best time for the villainous McIntyre to establish himself as the biggest heel in WWE, as he should once again dismantle The Monster Among Men.

After attacking Strowman and further injuring his elbow on television, McIntyre could stand tall with Corbin, and declare that he has ensured that Strowman will not be able to make his way to TLC, and thus confirming the inevitable - Baron Corbin becoming the Permanent General Manager of Raw.
