3 superstars who could return at Royal Rumble 2019
The Road to Wrestlemania begins at the annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view. The Royal Rumble is one of the most exciting and most anticipated events of the year and fans look forward to this mega-event every year with great enthusiasm and interest.
The one thing that fans love about the Royal Rumble is the unpredictable nature of the event. The traditional 30-person Royal Rumble match has seen the wildest returns of all time that left fans thrilled and surprised. Superstars return as unannounced surprise entrants from injury or hiatus. This often leads to a huge pop from the crowd.
Such moments last a lifetime in a fans' memory. Who could ever forget John Cena's miraculous return from injury as the final entrant at Royal Rumble 2008? Remember the reaction when Rob Van Dam was a surprise entrant in the 2009 Royal Rumble match? These are just some of the shockers we witnessed at Royal Rumble.
Surprises are what define Royal Rumble matches. It is because of this aspect that fans eagerly await Rumble matches.
With that said, let's look at 3 superstars who could return at Royal Rumble 2019.
3. Kevin Owens
About a month ago, WWE started airing vignettes featuring Kevin Owens and hyping up his return. The vignettes always ended with a 'Coming Soon' message, fueling rumors that Owens was nearing an in-ring return.
Given that the Rumble match is notorious for surprises, it would be a wise decision to have Owens return in the Royal Rumble match. This is how I would book it: Kevin Owens viciously attacks the final entrant of the match, R-Truth, backstage and ends up taking his spot in the Rumble match.
From there on, Owens could tear through the entire competition in the ring and would eliminate a handful of stars. Owens would enter the Final Four, but would be unable to win the match.
This would give Owens some much needed momentum and could solidify his impending face turn. Owens is one of the most likely superstars to return during the Rumble match and I'm sure that most fans would welcome him with open arms.
