3 things that could happen with Kevin Owens on WWE SmackDown tonight

Kevin Owens failed to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night's Main Event with the match finishing in controversial circumstances. The Prizefighter had a heated battle with his friend-turned-foe, ultimately falling to a Cross Rhodes on a steel chair introduced into the match by himself.

Owens then added another heinous act to his growing list of recent transgressions, hitting The American Nightmare with a package piledriver after the show. He then left with the Winged Eagle championship, which Rhodes had been granted for one night only by Triple H, and got in a shoving match with The Game in the entranceway.

The Canadian star has been active this past week, showing up unannounced to the RAW on Netflix Kickoff Event before being escorted away. Even though this week's SmackDown was taped last week, the 40-year-old could advance his storyline in a backstage segment, possibly facing consequences for his actions in the Nassau Veterans' Coliseum.

Here are three things that could happen with Kevin Owens on WWE SmackDown following Saturday Night's Main Event

#3. Kevin Owens could attack Nick Aldis on WWE SmackDown

Kevin Owens has been on a mean streak since turning on Cody Rhodes after WWE Bad Blood 2024. Not only did he put Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes on the shelf with piledrivers, but he also got physical with Triple H when Saturday Night's Main Event went off the air. Additionally, he stormed the Netflix Kickoff Show claiming to be the true Undisputed champion, confirming that he has indeed snapped.

Given what he did to Rhodes and Orton, what's stopping The Prizefighter from taking out an authority figure like Nick Aldis? The SmackDown GM is sure to have something to say about Owens' actions in New Jersey and his continued claim to The American Nightmare's title.

This may not bode well for the blue brand's authority figure, earning him an attack from the unhinged star.

#2. Kevin Owens could be suspended or fired for his actions following Saturday Night's Main Event

Kevin Owens' brutal piledriver to Cody Rhodes and physical altercation with Triple H after Saturday Night's Main Event was mentioned on WWE RAW. However, they were not addressed, with no repercussions brought against the former Universal Champion. Even when he gatecrashed the red brand's Netflix Kickoff show, The Prizefighter was not reprimanded or punished in any way.

Given that he is a SmackDown Superstar, the blue brand may be where Owens finally faces some consequences for his actions. The Canadian Superstar could be suspended for executing another banned move and putting his hands on the Chief Content Officer, and forced to hand over the Winged Eagle title. He could even be fired from the blue brand, opening a path for him to join RAW in the transfer window.

Given the rumors surrounding his contractual status with WWE, he could even be fired from the company in storyline.

#1. Kevin Owens could receive a third match against Cody Rhodes to determine the real Undisputed WWE champion

After leaving Saturday Night's Main Event with the throwback Winged Eagle title, Kevin Owens claims to be the Undisputed WWE Champion. However, Cody Rhodes is the officially recognized champion, having controversially defeated Owens in the Nassau Veterans' Colosseum. Fans are split down the middle, with both stars having scored a visual pinfall during their epic clash.

With each man holding a title, the most exciting solution could be a rematch to clear up once and for all who the true champion is. This could be a ladder match with both championships hung above the ring, ending the trilogy that began at Bash In Berlin. This could be one of the biggest matches at the 2025 Royal Rumble.
