3 things Stone Cold Steve Austin can do if he returns to WWE in 2025
After making his triumphant return to the ring in 2022, fans have wanted to see WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin back in the ring for another match. His great showdown with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 left the WWE Universe clamoring for more.
With 2025 and WrestleMania 41 now on the horizon many fans are once again hoping that the Texas Rattlesnake could make an appearance in WWE next year, whether it be for a match or a segment.
With endless possibilities available for the Hall of Famer we are going to take a look at 3 things Stone Cold Steve Austin could do if he returns to WWE in 2025.
#3. The Texas Rattlesnake meets The Final Boss
One of the biggest surprises this year in WWE was the emergence of The Rock's newest persona, The Final Boss. Now on the board of directors in WWE, The Rock is literally the boss, with his in-ring persona looking to use his power to solidify his position at the top of the company.
Speaking to Monday Night RAW's Joe Tessitore on ESPN earlier this year, The Rock spoke about how the Final Boss came to be:
"I would categorize the evolution into Final Boss as when opportunity meets the willingness to listen, truly listen. You can hear fans, but there is a difference between hearing and listening."
One star who is very familiar with The Rock but not the Final Boss is Stone Cold Steve Austin himself.
Ever one to stand up to authority figures, a great way for Stone Cold to make his WWE return next year could be for him to interrupt The Rock either during one of his matches or promos and deliver a classic stunner to his greatest rival. Whether this leads to a match or not, it would certainly be another fantastic chapter in the storied rivalry between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
#2. Austin aids The American Nightmare
One current WWE star who Austin knows all too well is his WrestleMania 38 opponent Kevin Owens. The pair share a common bond after Owens decided to start using Austin's stunner as his finishing move.
Currently, Kevin Owens is embroiled in a red-hot rivalry with the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, with the pair seeming set to face off at least one more time in 2025. Owens has made it his mission to try and physically harm Rhodes weekly. Therefore, during one of his beatdowns of Cody, Austin could then make the save against his former opponent, aiding The American Nightmare in the process.
Somebody who very much would like to see Stone Cold Steve Austin back in the the company is Cody Rhodes himself, who sent an open invite to the Hall of Famer while speaking at ComplexCon earlier this year:
"Yeah, so the invitation's there. He's also not far—I mean, we could helicopter him three hours away, Great American Bash style. I think 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin being, you know, we're talking inside here, but this babyface individual, and we're back in this unbelievable era where there are good guys in the business again. Here was the ultimate babyface who had the company on his back. I just would like him to be around to see how we're doing."
#1. WWE's two greatest anti-heroes collide at WrestleMania 41
From Hulk Hogan vs. John Cena to Undertaker vs. Sting, there are always going to be many what-if matches in professional wrestling. Another one that fans are still hoping comes to fruition is CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The two renegade performers both made a career by going against the grain and saying whatever they wanted, thus truly becoming the voices for those at home and in the arenas.
With CM Punk now back in WWE a match between him and Austin may finally be on the cards. Speaking at Fanatics Fest NYC Live, CM Punk was asked about potentially facing off against Austin at WrestleMania 41 next year:
"That would be up to Steven. It’s not up to me,” CM Punk said. “I think he had a pretty good return, came back, main-evented WrestleMania. At this point, his six shooters might be buried in the Nevada desert. But if he wants to dig them up, I’m your huckleberry. It should have happened ten-plus years ago. If he wants to go to sleep, he can call me."
Having both built up strong cult following before becoming full-blown main event icons, CM Punk v Stone Cold Steve Austin would truly go down as one of the biggest matches in professional wrestling history.
