3 Things that will happen if CM Punk is forced to retire following WWE Bad Blood
CM Punk walks into the Bad Blood 2024 Premium Live Event with a purpose. The former WWE Champion wants to punish Drew McIntyre and is even willing to put his decorated career on the line for the same.
The Second City Saint claimed that he was prepared for his career to end inside Hell in a Cell, hinting that a loss to The Scottish Warrior could force Punk to retire from professional wrestling. While an official retirement stipulation has not been added, the Chicago native puts everything on the line this weekend.
On that note, let's look at three things that can happen if CM Punk is forced to retire following the WWE Bad Blood 2024 Premium Live Event.
#3. Drew McIntyre receives a monster push
Drew McIntyre has already found himself in the bad books of the WWE Universe. The Scottish Warrior took his feud with CM Punk to personal levels beyond the ring, crossing all professional boundaries.
Fans want to see Punk give McIntyre the beating of a lifetime. Hell in a Cell would allow both men to unleash unimaginable aggression and inflict serious fun. However, a win could make The Scottish Warrior a monstrous villain.
Defeating The Straight Edge Superstar inside the unforgiving structure and possibly ending his career would earn McIntyre a massive amount of heat. This would instantly make him a top heel and a potential contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.
#2. CM Punk becomes Shawn Michaels' assistant on NXT
Retirement is never the end of the world for a WWE Superstar. Many retired legends have found solace in backstage managerial roles. Kurt Angle served as the General Manager of RAW from 2017-18, and William Regal occupied a similar role on NXT.
RAW and SmackDown have their General Managers with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, respectively, running the shows. Shawn Michaels runs things on NXT, but The Heartbreak Kid often has a difficult time handling things with an ambitious roster unafraid to cross boundaries.
If CM Punk is forced to retire following WWE Bad Blood 2024, The Straight Edge Superstar could head over to NXT to serve as an assistant to the 59-year-old. Punk and Michaels together would serve as a ratings magnet and no one would dare to cross the legendary duo.
#1. CM Punk becomes a color commentator on RAW or SmackDown
Joining the commentary team is another popular choice among retired wrestling personalities. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T became a full-time commentator for SmackDown following his return in January 2011. Wade Barrett also calls out the action at ringside on the RAW brand.
Corey Graves also found new life on the commentary team when his in-ring career was tragically cut short. CM Punk also briefly became a commentator on RAW in 2010 before he formed The New Nexus.
If Punk cannot wrestle following Bad Blood 2024, he should consider joining the commentary team. The Straight Edge Superstar is an expressive individual and a fantastic talker. Therefore, he would be a natural for such a role.
