The arrival of the internet made a huge difference in regards to a fan's perception of pro-wrestling shows that they religiously watched every single week. Dirtsheets began spoiling major news way before it happened on TV. This phenomenon gave rise to a bunch of interesting and memorable moments where fans came into the arena with a completely changed stance. #3 The Rock at SummerSlam 2002
At Vengeance 2002, The Rock met Undertaker and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match for Undertaker's WWE title. The three-way match-up ended with The Rock coming out the victor and bagging the title. On the other hand, Brock Lesnar had won the King of the Ring tournament and was given a shot at the WWE title. The big match was set for SummerSlam 2002. In the weeks leading up to The Biggest Party of the Summer, things were fine. It all changed during the event though.
The main event kicked off and the fans seemed to be into it. Lesnar and The Rock had an incredible back and forth, but the fans suddenly turned on The Rock in the midst of the match. The reason? Thanks to the power of the web, it was public knowledge by that point that The Rock was leaving WWE following SummerSlam, to resume his Hollywood career. After the show went off the air, The Rock cut a heel promo, giving a taste of what was to come when he would return in early 2003.
