3 Times WWE Superstars defended their titles in different matches on the same night

Becky Lynch will face Charlotte, in addition to her already announced match against Evans

Becky Lynch created history at WrestleMania 35 alongside Charlotte and Ronda Rousey, as the trio became the first three women to headline the biggest show of the year. In the process, Becky also became both RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion and is being now referred to as Becky 2 Belts by her fans.

With Becky becoming a double champion, there were a lot of unanswered questions in my mind that I've discussed in one of my previous articles. One major question among those was, will she defend both her titles at every PPV? Initially, it looked like she would just be feuding with Lacey Evans for the time being. But this week on SmackDown, Charlotte became the #1 contender for the SD Women's Title, and Becky was quick to announce that she'll be defending both her titles at Money in the Bank in two different matches.

Now, this is something we haven't seen in quite some time. But there have been previous instances where Superstars have defended their titles on the same night in two different matches.

In this article, let's take a look at 3 times WWE Superstars pulled off double duty as champs on the same night.

Please note: I am not counting the instances when a champion had to defend his title a second time due to a Money in the Bank cash-in.

#3 Seth Rollins - Night of Champions 2015

Seth had quite an eventful 2015!
Seth had quite an eventful 2015!

2015 was the year of the Architect, Seth Rollins. After breaking up with The Shield in 2014, Rollins was one of the biggest heels in WWE, alongside the Authority. At WrestleMania 31, Rollins pulled off the famous "heist of the century" by cashing in his MITB contract in the main event and walking out as the WWE Champion.

At SummerSlam, Rollins took on the then United States Champion John Cena in a "Winner takes all" match, and walked out as a double champion, albeit he got some help from Jon Stewart.

But Rollins soon realized the down side of being a double-champion, as he had to defend both of his titles at the Night of Champions PPV- the US Title against John Cena, and the WWE Championship against Sting. Luckily for him, he managed to hold on to one title by the end of the night, by defeating Sting in the main event.

This was the last time a champion defended two titles on the same night in two different matches.
