3 unexpected things 'babyface' Roman Reigns can do on WWE SmackDown this week

The WWE Universe erupted with joy as Roman Reigns finally made his long-awaited return in the closing moments of SummerSlam 2024. The Original Tribal Chief laid waste to Solo Sikoa, helping Cody Rhodes retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in the process.

Considering the reaction he received and his recent presentation, The Head of The Table could be positioned as a babyface moving forward. Reigns is scheduled to return to SmackDown this week, which will provide a clearer indication of his character moving forward.

On that note, let's look at three things The Original Tribal Chief, as a babyface, could do on WWE SmackDown this week.

#3. Roman Reigns acknowledges the WWE Universe

Since returning as the Tribal Chief in August 2020, Roman Reigns had one purpose: to have every person acknowledge him. While fans were occasionally wary and skeptical of Reigns' record-setting World Title run, they showered him with immense love in his absence.

The WWE Universe gladly accepted and acknowledged The Original Tribal Chief for his legendary reign. It's time for Reigns to reciprocate with an endearing promo on SmackDown.

The former Universal Champion could thank the fans for their support in his absence and for the respect they have showered upon him. He could also apologize for his questionable antics in the past, before acknowledging the WWE Universe.

#2. The Original Tribal Chief shakes hands with Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes could begin SmackDown with a standard promo, only for it to reach the next level with Roman Reigns' arrival. The Original Tribal Chief could stand face-to-face with The American Nightmare and explain his motives at SummerSlam.

Reigns could explain that his actions had more to do with seeking revenge on Solo Sikoa than helping Rhodes. Nonetheless, he could acknowledge his loss to The American Nightmare at WrestleMania 40.

Rhodes earned Reigns' respect at Mania, and the Original Tribal Chief could shake his hands to show due acknowledgment. This would remove much of the ill-will between the two SmackDown stars.

#1. Reigns saves Cody Rhodes from a backstage assault from The Bloodline

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns may not be best friends, but they have a common enemy in Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline. Neither man can fight Sikoa alone since the numbers game is in The Street Champion's favor.

Therefore, they may realize the need for each other's help and put aside their hostilities. Sikoa may not be finished with The American Nightmare, and he could launch a backstage assault on the champion on SmackDown.

Sikoa's plans might quickly derail as the Original Tribal Chief could emerge to save Rhodes from The Bloodline and send the group into retreat.
