3 WWE legends who admitted Vince McMahon is their father figure in Netflix's docuseries
The release of Netflix's docuseries has brought a lot of attention to former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and rightly so. The docuseries took an unbiased approach, featuring real, heartfelt interviews that shed light on the man, the myth, the legend—Mr. McMahon—and his fair share of controversies.
The who's who of WWE and professional wrestling chimed in and shared unheard stories and their relationship with Vince McMahon, but there are three legends for whom Mr. McMahon is not only their former boss but a father figure. In fact, McMahon himself said that he was the patriarch of the WWE family.
So without further ado, let's look at three WWE legends who admitted on camera that Vince McMahon was like their father figure!
#3. Trish Stratus
Trish Stratus and Vince McMahon are no strangers, as the two spent considerable time together as an on-screen couple. McMahon not only kissed Trish in front of his wife Linda but also once made her bark like a dog on all fours. Despite all the humiliation, their off-screen relationship is full of love, respect, and dignity.
During episode six of Netflix's Mr. McMahon docuseries, Trish Stratus revealed that the former Executive Chairman of TKO was a father figure to her.
"Our relationship; he was like a father figure to me!" she said. [31:24]
Vince's name may have been marred by allegations and settlements, but Trish's comments shed light on the side of McMahon that many are not familiar with.
#2. John Cena
It's no secret how close John Cena and Mr. McMahon are. Despite the former head honcho leaving his duties in WWE, The Franchise Player has continued to maintain a close relationship that began during the Ruthless Aggression Era.
Speaking in the last episode of the docuseries, Cena reflects on what Vince McMahon means to him.
"I have a fatherly, father-son relationship with Vince [McMahon],'' the 16-time WWE World Champion said. [31:30]
While John Cena kicked off his career under Mr. McMahon, the same can't be said about his retirement. Sadly, the 79-year-old won't be booking The Greatest of All Time's Retirement Tour in WWE, but we're certain he will keep a close eye.
#1. Vince McMahon's closest ally—The Undertaker
When WCW closed its doors to Mark Calaway, it was Vince McMahon who gave him a new lease of life with The Undertaker character. The Deadman and Vince are undoubtedly very tight, and it showed during the Netflix documentary.
While talking about his relationship with Vince in the final episode of Mr. McMahon, The Undertaker visibly choked up as he let his human side take over.
The Phenom said: "He's had the role in my life of a father figure. I mean, I'd honestly take a bullet for that man." [31:16]
Given the decades of friendship between McMahon and The Undertaker, it's not a surprise that The Demon of Death Valley is ready to risk his life for him. And while Mr. McMahon may not be at the helm of WWE anymore, his imprint on the business and his relationships with his close aides will never fade.
