3 WWE Tag Team stars that desperately need a singles run
WWE is filled with several incredible tag teams, all of which have great chemistry. From DIY in SmackDown to Damage CTRL on Raw, and the Supersonic Duo down in NXT, the list goes on and on. But, there are only so many opportunities to go around.
With only four tag team titles in the company, not every team can compete for the gold. This puts the WWE in a difficult situation, as there are many stars whose talent and ability are going to be wasted. So, what could be an ideal situation?
Well, perhaps it's high time some of these stars get the singles run they so desperately deserve and need. Whether it's because they've been a team for too long or are just too big to be confined in a team, there are a few WWE superstars whose names come to mind in this situation. Here are three stars who should be first on the list.
#3. Xavier Woods' departure from The New Day is imminent
Kicking things off with the most obvious choice, it's high time Xavier Woods becomes a singles star. It will soon be 10 whole years since Woods joined The New Day, and there is no doubt that it has been an incredible run. Not only is the group one of the most decorated tag teams of all time, but there is a genuine argument to be made for them as the best.
However, looking across the board at their members, Woods sticks out like a sore thumb. On one hand, you have Big E and Kofi Kingston, two legends of the game, who have both been world champions and won numerous other singles titles. On the other hand, you have Woods, who is yet to have a fruitful singles run. All he has to his name is his King of the Ring achievement from back in 2021. So, with that in mind, perhaps it's time he moves out of The New Day's shadow.
#2. Montez Ford has enough talent to become a top singles star in WWE
Moving from one tag team that seems on the verge of destruction to one that is stronger than ever, we have the Street Profits. The superstar in focus here is none other than Montez Ford. Not to throw shade at Angelo Dawkins, who is incredibly talented in his own right, but his partner Ford has what can only be described as the "It" factor.
Ford is extremely athletic and an incredibly capable performer. What's more, he is not shy in front of the mic and can cut great promos. He has all the tools to become a great singles star, one that could perhaps one day challenge for a world championship. So, maybe it should be "I want the smoke", instead of "we want the smoke", going forward.
#1. Fans are desperate to see Jade Cargill in singles action
While the previous two entries are veterans, this next one is a relatively new recruit. At one point last year, Jade Cargill was one of the hottest free agents in pro wrestling. After a stellar run in AEW, her next stop was WWE, and many expected her to become the next big star in the Women's Division. This was even teased at the Royal Rumble when she stepped up to Bianca Belair.
But rather than have the two become rivals, WWE decided to pair them up as a tag team. Now, there is no denying that they have been successful as a duo. After all, they're two-time Women's Tag Team Champions. However, this is certainly not what the fans want. They want to see the two powerhouses go head-to-head, and perhaps it's high time Triple H and creative give them what they want.
