31st Triple Crown Champion to make blockbuster return to WWE show after 7 years? Exploring major twist following CM Punk announcement

CM Punk will appear on WWE NXT this week. The white-and-gold brand is set to usher in a new era as it will move to the CW Network in October 2024. But before that happens, Punk will make an announcement on this week's program. However, things could end differently for him, as Drew McIntyre could make a massive comeback.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been in a deeply personal feud ever since Royal Rumble 2024. Both superstars have left no stone unturned to hurt each other. Following his win in the Strap Match, Punk was looking to move on from the Scotsman. However, McIntyre wasn't done yet, and now they will meet inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood.

The Second City Saint's appearance on NXT this week has nothing to do with his current feud with McIntyre. However, the 31st Triple Crown Champion may catch Punk off-guard and ambush him on the show. Punk may not expect the Scotsman to come down to NXT, as the latter has not been seen on the brand in nearly seven years.

WWE generally does not let its RAW and SmackDown storylines play out on NXT. But considering how personal this feud has become, the company can make an exception.

Drew McIntyre was the top superstar of the white-and-gold show as the NXT Champion in 2017. He last wrestled on the program on November 18, 2017, in a losing effort against Andrade.

Drew McIntyre reveals his initial reaction to CM Punk's return at Survivor Series

CM Punk's return at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 was loved by fans around the world, but some WWE employees were seemingly not pleased with his arrival. One such superstar was Drew McIntyre.

In an interview with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McIntyre detailed his initial reaction to CM Punk's return to the company. The former world champion revealed he was furious with the development but understood the reason behind it.

"I was pretty annoyed, but I understand business and I understand why it was done, but, I found it interesting that everybody started going, 'Oh, it’s obviously going to be this, or obviously going to be this guy.' I was sitting there thinking, there’s a lot of real history here, and a lot of real feelings I’ve got and if I get the opportunity, I know we could tell the most compelling story of all, because no matter my real feelings, I’m still a professional, you know?"

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will face each other inside Hell in a Cell on October 5. This bout could culminate their feud before they move on to other things.
