36-year-old non-WWE star to challenge Logan Paul at Money in the Bank? Exploring a potential gamble from Triple H
LA Knight is likely to challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship soon but their match is reportedly being planned for WWE SummerSlam later this year. This could let Triple H play an intriguing gamble with a popular star who has taken the internet by storm lately.
The name in question is TNA star, Joe Hendry, who made his WWE debut on NXT earlier this week. The Scottish wrestler had gone viral for his entrance theme and was mentioned on television, leading many to speculate if he would appear at Clash at the Castle: Scotland.
Instead, Hendry appeared on the white and gold brand where he competed in a Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Championship, which is currently held by Trick Williams. Hendry walked out to a massive pop but did not last long inside the ring as all the stars came together to eliminate him immediately upon arrival.
He appeared frustrated with the manner of his elimination and spotted Shawn Michaels backstage. Hendry was seen taking issues with HBK for all the other participants ganging up on him and warned the legend, that he could turn up anywhere in the future.
"Oh, and if it isn't Shawn Michaels. Was that your idea out there? 24 men against me. Joe Hendry vs. NXT. Well, you know what, Shawn, I can show up anywhere, anytime, on any show. All you gotta do is say this name," said Hendry.
With Knight vs Paul likely being pushed until SummerSlam, we could see the latter defend his title at Money in the Bank as well. Triple H could have Joe Hendry challenge Logan Paul for the gold at the PLE next month. Although Hendry is unlikely to dethrone the reigning United States Champion, he could have a brief yet entertaining feud with Paul ahead of the upcoming WWE premium live event.
This would also allow Triple H to capitalize on the gamble he might be willing to take on the 36-year-old, especially with his growing popularity on social media. Joey Hendry's WWE debut post on social media is now the most-watched video of the year, of the promotion, and he may soon get his opportunity to show his caliber on a bigger stage.
Logan Paul booked to compete in the Money in the Bank qualifier on WWE SmackDown
Logan Paul will be in action on SmackDown next week when he will lock horns with LA Knight and Santos Escobar in a triple-threat bout for a spot in the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. This week's qualifier saw Carmelo Hayes and Andrade win their respective bouts to enter the MITB Ladder Match.
The United States Champion appeared on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown and attacked Knight. The latter had demanded the champion to come out and accept his challenge for a title match. Instead, Escobar walked out to confront Knight and soon fell victim to a BFT.
This gave Logan Paul the chance to pull off a sneak attack on Knight which ended with the latter eating a brass knuckle-cladded punch. The three superstars will meet for their high-stakes bout on the blue brand next week and it will be interesting to see if Escobar can profit from the rivalry between LA Knight and Logan Paul.
