37-year-old SmackDown Superstar to move back to NXT? Exploring the possibility
WWE SmackDown, at one point in time, was hailed as the land of opportunity. While that still holds true for some superstars, others find themselves on the main roster with no real direction. This happens to be the case for a 37-year-old star, who has been struggling to make an impact on the blue brand. And now, following recent developments, could a move back to NXT be on the cards?
Currently, SmackDown boasts a diverse array of skilled wrestlers. With the likes of The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, and The Original Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, among others, it's safe to say the brand has a deep roster. And it is this very thing that provides WWE Creative with a predicament. Why? Well, they simply cannot maximize the potential of every superstar on the roster. This happens to be the case for Apollo Crews, who could find himself heading back to NXT.
Apollo Crews was drafted to SmackDown in 2024, where he was paired alongside Baron Corbin. Unfortunately, after a short run on the main roster, Corbin was recently released by WWE. Considering the limited opportunities he received when Corbin was around, it's hard to imagine what direction the creative team will take with Crews now. With that in mind, the best-case scenario could be sending him back to NXT.
If this happens, it would be the second time in two years that Crews has been moved back to the developmental brand. His initial return to NXT was in 2022, following an unsuccessful attempt to succeed on the main roster. However, at the moment, this is only speculation. We will have to wait and see what the future holds.
SmackDown will play host to a meeting between the OG Bloodline tonight
Despite the unknown future facing Apollo Crews, the one constant on SmackDown is the continuous presence of The Bloodline. Solo Sikoa and his associates aside, there is a chance that the OG members could be joining the roster soon. How tonight's episode unfolds may heavily influence this possible evolution.
In case you missed the last edition of RAW, Jey Uso invited his good friend Sami Zayn to this week's SmackDown. Should the Underdog from the Underground accept his invitation, we could see the OG Bloodline back together again on the blue brand. It certainly will be a must-see segment, especially considering what's at stake.
Outside of an OG Bloodline reunion, there is a lot to be excited about for tonight. What's next for Cody Rhodes? How will Nia Jax respond after Tiffany Stratton's interference at Crown Jewel? Will Kevin Owens make his presence felt? All these questions and more will likely be answered in a couple of hours.
