4 Feuds for Wade Barrett if he returns to in-ring competition in WWE - Long-time friend turned enemy, betrayed by major faction?

WWE has three main sets of commentators, with one duo currently providing their talents to each brand. SmackDown has the duo of Michael Cole and Corey Graves, NXT has Vic Joseph and Booker T, while RAW features the pairing of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett.

The latter team is particularly interesting, as Wade has only been on commentary for a few years in the Stamford-based company. Meanwhile, Joe is brand-new. Despite the pair being completely new to each other, they have obvious chemistry and things are working out well.

Still, while Barrett has a bright future as an analyst, he is perhaps best known for his time as a wrestler. He led the Nexus, won the King of the Ring tournament, and held the Intercontinental Championship five times throughout his career. He was a big success.

Wade recently teased a potential return to the ring at some point in the future. This article will take a look at a handful of potential feuds that could be awaiting Barrett if he does indeed return to in-ring action shortly.

Below are four feuds for Wade Barrett if he returns to in-ring competition in WWE.

#4. CM Punk and Wade Barrett fighting would make a lot of sense

CM Punk is one of the most talented, yet controversial figures in pro wrestling history. He is a multi-time WWE Champion who infamously walked out on the company over a decade ago. He made his celebrated return to the company at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023.

The Straight Edge Superstar is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre. The two have had an incredibly heated rivalry that has even brought AJ Lee up on multiple occasions. Notably, Wade Barrett has routinely taken up for Drew during this ongoing storyline.

Punk could have issues with Barrett regularly defending Drew and it could lead to a conversation and confrontation between the two men. From there, if they come to blows, a big-time match or two could be on the horizon.

#3. Drew McIntyre threatened Wade Barrett recently

Drew McIntyre is another controversial figure, albeit for different reasons. Over the past year or so, The Scottish Warrior has grown quite bitter in WWE and has lashed out at names such as Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and even Sami Zayn of all people.

As noted, McIntyre has been feuding with CM Punk on WWE television. They hope to end their bitter rivalry inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood. Wade Barrett is seemingly hoping Drew will win, but the two had a notable issue recently.

When Barrett tried to calm Drew down, The Scottish Warrior threatened his alleged friend. This might not sit well with the former Intercontinental Champion and it may lead to the two going one-on-one in the future. Could friends become foes in the Stamford-based company? Only time will tell.

#2. Damian Priest could object to Wade Barrett's praise of The Judgment Day on WWE RAW each week

Damian Priest has had a tough time in WWE as of late. His year started strong, as he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XL. Unfortunately, things took a dramatic turn for him at SummerSlam 2024.

Finn Balor betrayed Priest and cost him the world title and thus kicked the latter out of The Judgment Day. Rhea Ripley was kicked out that very same day and now The Terror Twins are attempting to battle the dangerous WWE faction. Unfortunately, the numbers advantage is difficult for the two to overcome.

One notable theme in recent weeks is Wade Barrett and his support of The Judgment Day. Even Joe Tessitore has called him out on it. If Damian grows tired of Barrett sticking up for his former stablemates, it could lead to the two clashing in the near future.

#1. The Judgment Day could attack Wade Barrett, sparking a rivalry

Despite The Judgment Day taking Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest out of their lineup, the heel faction remains quite strong. The group currently consists of Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, and Carlito.

While the stable should, in theory, love Wade Barrett for his constant praise, they are difficult to understand. The Judgment Day makes enemies out of people loyal to them, as has been proven by their treatment of Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest.

As a result, a major swerve could happen where instead of appreciating Wade's praise, they lash out. The 44-year-old star could be brutally beaten down, perhaps for not praising them enough or just for kicks. From there, Barrett could try to fight off the stable one-by-one in a series of matches.
